The role of the County Commissioner

I am enjoying the opportunity  to speak with citizens concerning my political campaign for County Commissioner District 5.

Usually before I start discussing my campaign platform, I take the time to explain the role and responsibilities of a County Commissioner and the district I’m representing.

.Here are a few thoughts I share with the constituents in Harnett county.

There are five district seats in Harnett County.  Each district has their elected representative. Again, I am campaigning for district 5 seat, my opponent is up for re-election.

All five commissioners make up the Board of Commissioners, which is a governing body for ENTIRE Harnett County.

There are three county commissioners that are up for re-election in Nov. I urge you to do your research and learn about those currently serving your district and all individuals running for office.

Listed are the responsibilities of the Board of Commissioners:

Oversee the county budget.

Zoning and planning issues.

Promoting Growth.

Improving quality of life for citizens in Harnett County.

Please note, the county is not responsible for roads, this is the responsibility of the state.
