CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2007 Summer Employment: Interstate Compact Coordinator ● North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention ● Position included communicating with Interstate Compact offices in all 50 states, and the District of Columbia, to facilitate cooperative supervision and the return of runaways.
Duties also involved collaborating with court counselors across the state, to ensure monitoring and quarterly progress reports were provided for juveniles. Communicated with juvenile court counselors to ensure runaway juveniles were appropriately housed, and received required court hearings, and needed transportation.
1999-2006 Juvenile Court Counselor North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention The position involved the supervision of adjudicated, undisciplined, and delinquent juveniles.
Duties included assessing the needs of juveniles who were referred by complaint or an adjudicated delinquent or undisciplined. Developed and implemented plans for achieving positive change in behavior and altering plans as required.
Duties also included providing and facilitating services to juveniles and their families, responding after hours to emergency needs, monitored the progress of juveniles through the home, office, and school visits. Transported juveniles to court, detention and youth development centers maintained extensive case files.
1999-1995 Youth Shelter Director: Lee County Department of Youth and Adult Services
Direct the operations of a temporary facility housing undisciplined, delinquent, dependent, and homeless youth. Responsibility included for direct supervision of direct care staff and the coordination of group counseling services. Duties involve maintaining re-licnsensure for the shelter according to local, state and federal guidelines, Ensure compliance and implementation of a Federal Runaway and Homeless Grant ($1000, 000) as well as local and state grants. Completed and maintained all required paper work and updated tracking forms. I served as a liaison to Lee, Harnett and Johnston county referral agencies and Youth Advisory boards. Responsible for training new staff, evaluating staff and client progress, maintaining all case files. Responsibility included overseeing the day to day operation of the shelter.
